Tribute

With great sadness we announce the passing of Tom (Tamas) Dobozy. Tom is survived by his wife, Eva, his children Kinga, Peter, and Tamas, his grandchildren Benjamin, Henry, Xavier, Molly, Lucy and Eva. Tom was born in Nyirabrany, Hungary, and came to Canada with many of his fellow students from the University of Sopron following the 1956 Revolution, most of whom finished their studies in forestry engineering at the University of British Columbia. He worked for decades as a forestry engineer at MacMillan Bloedel in locations up and down the coast, including Kelsey Bay, Nanaimo, and finally Powell River, where he spent the majority of his career. Tom loved his vegetable garden, wood cutting, fly-fishing, wine-making, photography, carpentry, as well as classical music, literature and fine art, but is mainly remembered for his fanatical love of playing bridge, a hobby he maintained to the end. A prayer service will be held for him on Thursday March 15 at 7:00 PM, and a funeral on Friday March 16 at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption.
