Uwe (Bernie) Blankenburg November 29, 1931 – February 1, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bernie Blankenburg. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years Inge and his children and grandchildren Pam, Kelvin, Keaton, Kaela and Kim, Jamie, Cole, Dustin and Cedar. Bernie passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Bernie and Inge immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1957. After spending nine years in Edmonton, Alberta, they discovered a beautiful little community called Powell River where he worked, raised his family and was proud to call home. The family would like to thank everyone involved with Bernie’s care at Powell River General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. A special thank-you goes to Doctor Marentette and Mary at the North Shore Community Dialysis Unit. Bernie had requested that in lieu of flowers we set up an account for a blanket heater for kidney dialysis patients in St. Paul’s Hospital. Donations can be made to a GoFundMe page in memory of Bernie Blankenburg. Cheers!
