Valerie Joy Warris

October 6, 1932 - November 1, 2013

Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Valerie, surrounded by loved ones.

She was predeceased by her husband Ken, parents Elmer Swanson and Aline (Elaine) Johnston, brothers Vernon and Sonny and sister-in-law Shirley. Val is survived by her loving children Ken (Sue), Elaine (Lance), Albert (Arlene), Vanessa (Norm) and Stuart (Tracy), adoring grandchildren Lara, Scott, Miranda, Kelsey, Chelsea, Courtney, Jackson, Shelby, Riley, Kaysha, Teal and Zachary, great-grandchildren Korben, Hailey, Abigail and Mikenna, brothers Gerald, Len (Gail), Olie (Oleta) and Dwight, sister-in-law Berlene and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She is also survived by her loving companion Bryan Stevens, whom she met at 76 years old and fell in love with.

Mom enjoyed a 23-year career with Safeway and after being diagnosed with liver disease and given only five years to live, she took early retirement in 1990. We were blessed to have her with us for many “bonus” years. Mom enjoyed playing bingo, her trips to the casino and always looked forward to mushroom season, but her family was her world.

Val and family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Toole, Dr. Hoffert, Dr. Meyer and all the staff and volunteers at Powell River General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
