Tribute

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Victoria Madeleine “Maggie” Styles Sommerfeld.
She will be greatly missed.
Born Feb 10, 1928 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, she was the 5th of 8 children.
She married Erich Werner and had 3 children, Peter, Lawrence, and Louise.
She is survived by her daughter Louise Redlon, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren Chris Werner (Pam), Bobbi-Jo Werner, Kristina Redlon, Victoria Redlon, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be fondly remembered by relatives and friends with wonderful stories.
She loved learning and was proud to receive her nurses cap in 1946, her diploma in municipal recreation from the University of Western Ontario, in 1966, and enjoyed many years as Assistant Director of Municipal Recreation in London, On. She moved on to work in Ottawa, for the Geophysicalthermal unit of the government, and was transferred to Pat Bay, BC in 1973. From there she moved to Vancouver, where she met and married Robert Sommerfeld. They built a life, and a house, in Yahk, BC. After his passing, she moved to live with her daughter Louise, and son-in-law David Redlon in Powell River, BC.
She had a quick wit, and a wonderful sense of fun and adventure that she loved to share. She loved to travel, to read, and to challenge her mind.
She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Powell River General Hospital, on Aug 19, 2021. Thank you to her doctors, nurses and staff, Kiwanis Gardens, and Home Support for her care.
Celebration of life will be held at Stubberfields, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. Due to covid restrictions, seating is limited, so please contact the family if you plan to attend.
