It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vitale Mastrodonato. Born on May 24, 1934 in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy, Vitale passed away January 01, 2015 in Powell River, BC. He is survived by his loving wife Marisa; children Silvana (Tom Whyte) of Victoria, BC, Dominic (Rachel Bennett) of Coquitlam, BC. and his three grandchildren Katrina, Marisa and Michelle. He is also survived by his sister Alba (Fausto) De Vita, niece Cathy (Renato) Infanti, his aunt Lucia (Umberto) Greco, cousin Valentino Greco, all of Powell River, BC and his brother-in-law Verino Butiniello in Italy.

Dearest Marisa and Family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of great sadness. I have known you both for so many years from the Open Air Market, and during that time, you and Vito have been an amazing example of a working partnership. I admired the way you both worked at your various gardening projects, picked salal together, packed plants and flowers back and forth to market, and shared your knowledge of gardening. I will miss Vito’s quiet and gentle ways.
