Wayne Langdale
July 31, 1941 - June 21, 2026
Tribute
Born and raised in Powell River for the first 20 years of his life to Frank and Lena Langdale, Wayne longed for adventure. He began traveling in 1961 and ended up in New Zealand. He met his first wife and had his son Chris, then remarried to Barb and was married for 53 years to her. Together they had a daughter Cheryl and then they all moved back to Canada in 1989.
Wayne worked for 27 years in the New Zealand Fire Service and when they came back to Canada, Wayne became the Powell River Fire Chief for the next 9 years. He retired in 1998 at 55 years of age.
Wayne enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, fishing, golfing and going on many cruises with Barb. He went on many holidays with his family between New Zealand and Canada. Wayne also loved hockey, both on tv and in person, going to local Kings games for many years.
Wayne’s greatest joy was his grandchildren which include, Chloe, Kian, Cade and Tenielle and also a great grandson Charlie – from Powell River to Vancouver and all the way to Australia.
Although his health had declined over the last few years, Wayne had a great memory and would remind you if something was not correct! Wayne ended his life residing at Willingdon Creek Village for almost the last 3 years. He made many friends with both residents and staff, becoming close with a special few.
He will be greatly missed by his friends, past co-workers and especially his family and wife, Barb.
Rest easy Dad…you are no longer in pain but only at peace XXX
