November 16, 1925 - September 13, 2025
Tribute
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather Wesley Jacob.
He was surrounded by his loving family as he passed away in Palliative Care at the age of 99.
Dad was born in St. Luke’s Hospital in the “Old Townsite” to Mary and Jacob. He spent his youth living in Mowat Bay and as a kid he was stacking shingle bolts. At age 18 he joined the Navy. He was one of the last two veterans living in Powell River.
He later met our Mon and married in 1950 and went on to raise five children.
Our Dad had a multitude of jobs over the years including logging, construction work, custodian for the city and school board and also as a cook for “Brownies Chicken.”
He was well known for his Chinese dinners and so many beautiful rock walls and fireplaces. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours picking blackberries and mushrooms.
Dad leaves behind a family that is devoted to his memory, his quick wit and his work ethics. As a family we were always our Dad’s priority. He always put our needs first. He showed us strength, support, generosity and unconditional love.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie, sons Jim and Scott, brother Sid and sisters Flo and Olive.
He will be forever missed by his surviving children Wendy (Frank), Doug (Kerry), Terri (Mark), 7 grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the dedicated and loving staff at the ECU and Kiwanis.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

To the Family of Wes Fraser: Wes ALWAYS will be in my thoughts because he built the lovely rock wall in my yard. As well, his fine workmanship exists in the beautiful fireplace in my rumpus room.

Wendy, Doug, and Terri, I have so many memories of your dad, mainly just telling and listening to his stories about his past and life in general. I will treasure those memories of him sitting on the stairs in the store, sometimes for hours. He had a way of putting things in perspective “Wes “ style. Rest In Peace my friend. The pleasure of knowing you was all mine. My own health issues deny my presence at your service, but I am there in spirit. Keith Anderson.

Powell River lost an historian, with Wes’ passing. I asked him on numerous occasions to write some sort of memoire, but he said nobody wanted his rambling! So not true! he was a very sweet man, and will be missed.
