Tribute
Richard Hughes arrived on New Year’s Day and left us on a Leap Day. In the time between he lived his life with a can-do attitude and a sincere desire to help others. A sailor (and son of a sailor), Richard loved to be on the water and would hoist his sails with optimism with little regard to wind or fair weather. He loved the town of Powell River and the wealth of people he called friends, and he will be fondly missed by everyone who knew him.
Richard is survived by his wife Patricia, son Ian, daughter Jillian, grandson Mac and brothers Chris, Bill and Tim.
A memorial will be held Friday, March 9 at 1 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164. In lieu of flowers, a small donation to the Legion would be appreciated.

I last saw Richard in 1968 and remember him well from his school days on HMS Worcester and our sailing together in Dover Harbour, happy days. All the best to Richard’;s family on this occasion.

Pat, Ian, Jill, my condolences during this very sad time. It was great to know Richard, growing up with Ian and Jill. I always enjoyed being greeted Mr.Again when it seemed like I was constantly over for dinner, sleepovers, etc. My thoughts are will you.
