Tribute
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Barry Gordon Wheaton on February 2nd 2018, at Powell River General Hospital. Loving husband to Heather Wheaton, caring father to Elaine, Julie, Frankie and Shawn, wonderful grandfather to Lily, brother to Bill(Anita), Leslie(Ken), Laura(Trevor), Cheryl(Mike) and Mark. We wish to thank Mark, Brandon, Mike, Alan, Susan, Lorrie, the BC Ferry crew, the nurses and doctors at PRGH for their quick response and care. Thank you to the community for all your kind words and support during this difficult time. Born in Ontario with a desire to live by the ocean, Barry decided to move out west, first moving to Powell River before discovering Texada Island. From the minute he set foot on this beautiful island he felt at home. It didn’t take long for us to follow him out here and feel the same way. With music always playing in the background he spent his days surrounded with family (pets included) and friends, all of whom are missing you now.
