Cornelis (Casey) Stroomer

Tribute
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cornelis (Casey) Stroomer on November 11, 2013. Born August 11, 1928 in Haarlemmermeer, Holland to Jacob and Helena Maria Stroomer, he was the third child and oldest son of 13.
Casey met the love of his life Pietertje Kolle and married her on August 2, 1950. They immigrated to Powell River in 1952 with two small children; seven more were born in Powell River. He was employed at MacMillan Bloedel from 1952to 1987 where he worked in the finishing room. Dad loved outdoor sports—camping, boating, baseball and hockey to name a few. He spent many hours watching the boys play baseball at D.A. Evans park and hockey at the old Willingdon arena. He was associated with minor hockey for over 25 years and especially enjoyed being a long-time Powell River Kings season ticket holder.
Dad enjoyed travelling with Mom and they took many trips back to Holland. However, his many trips with his family and friends to places throughout Canada and the US in his RV were his favourites.
He leaves behind Hendrika (Hugh), Jac (Mary), Bill (Holly), Casey (Jenny), Ted (Louetta), Tony (Lucy), Jerry (Debbie), Helena (Byrne), daughter-in-law Glenda, 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Richard in 2002 and his beloved wife of 61 and a half years Pietertje in 2012.
