Donald Alister Rodin

February 12, 1959 - February 7, 2024

Tribute

A talented, mechanically gifted and compassionate husband, beloved companion of Lorraine for 34 years, passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2024.

He is predeceased by his father Alfred and Joyce and Fred Ford.

He was the loving brother of Beverly, Colin and Malcom and son of Catherine. He is also lovingly survived by his sisters-in-Law Cynthia and Pam (Bill), and a number of nieces and nephews.

Alister played classical guitar, loved puttering on his cars and trucks, travelled and shared stories.  He looked at things from a positive viewpoint.  His greatest accomplishment was being a dedicated educator in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.  Students still ask of him after he retired from Burnaby School District.  He will be missed by friends and colleagues.

My sweetheart, my love, my one and only.

“Gone sailing and cruising”

Thank you to all nurses and doctors who face tragedy and miracles each day!

Relation: Former Teacher

Mr. Rodin was a legendary teacher at Burnaby North, certainly one of my favorites of all time. Had him in Power Mech, autobody, and he even chose me to become one of his leadership students. He made those around him feel valued.

Amazing teacher and amazing person. You surely will be missed (as well as your teacher glare).

God bless!

From: Shawn Padula
Relation: Student

Thank you for the unforgettable memories and knowledge in highschool. I’m sure there’s tons of students who were looking forward to another conversation with you, or perhaps running into you again in the outside world to catch up, myself included. There’s so much more to say, but I’ll leave it at that. Rest in peace to the king of Burnaby Norths automotive division.

From: Anthony Puleo
Relation: Student of his in one of his classes.

Rest in peace Mr. Rodin.

From: Colin
Relation: Brother

Lots of fond memories of working on his MG, painting and driving in his 67 Camaro and sailing off of Port Moody. Great times!

Alister was my brother-in-law. I miss him dearly and remember our many times together boating and playing music. One special visit was in Powell River and the highlight was Alister driving me around the city in his vintage car (Chevelle). I was so thrilled ! He was so kind and always made me laugh. I have so many cherished memories of him and our time together. He will be missed by all his friends and family very much. I send condolences to everyone whose life was touched by him. May you Rest in Peace Alister

From: Malcolm Rodin
Relation: brother

Devastated that my brother and best friend is gone. We shared a one bedroom apartment in Vancouver when he moved out for his teaching job. We did everything together. We became close and stayed close. We had great times boating in the Gulf Islands. Was grateful Alister had come to some of my band gigs when he did. As we never know when our health and energy will give out. Love you Alister.
