George Edward (Ted) Forshner

December 20, 1946 - October 14, 2012

Tribute

George Edward (Ted) Forshner December 20, 1946 to October 14, 2012 Ted was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan by his mother Helene Forshner and grandparents George and Ina Hills, who have all predeceased him. He came to Powell River in 1970 with his wife and infant son. He later had two more sons. Ted worked in the Powell River mill until his retirement. Camping with his family, in his younger years, at Haslam Lake was what he enjoyed doing. He was very involved with the C.B. radios during that era. And in later years he got into building and flying radio controlled planes. He was actively involved with the geneology club until his death, and was instumental in getting all the records computerized. Ted is survived and will be missed by his three sons, Trevor of Port Coquitlam, Travis of Powell River and Troy of Calgary as well as three grandchildren, Christipher and Cassandra of Port Coquitlam and Georgina of Powell River. Ted will also be missed by his ex-wife and lifelong friend Sandy Graham of Powell River. In the last few years Ted also made contact with his extended family of half brothers and sisters from Saskatchewan whom he was in constant contact with via the internet. Ted fought his last battle with lung problems and left us peacefully after a few days in a coma. He is now at rest. We will all miss him. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Powell River Stroke Recovery Club would be appreciated. There will be a time for visitation and viewing on Monday, October 22 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Stubberfield Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at 1:30 p.m. also at Stubberfield Chapel.

A more compassionate and affectionate man will not be found on this planet. A truer and kinder friend and brother will also never be found. We have lost more than my knowledge of words can express. I Love You Bro. Rest In Peace.

We were married by a drunken preacher, pushed along by a gun tot’n angry father in the midst of a laughing crowd at an I.O.F campfire skit!! You were my “wife” and I was your “Hubby” Like a good ole’ married couple we have survived 37yrs together. You were always there to lend a helping hand whenever we asked and we reciprocated in kind. I’m sad to see you go but .. you are in a better place now. The fight is over. Rest in Peace “wifey” I will miss you.. ♥♥♥

From: Darlene and Randey Chmelnyk

So sorry to hear of Ted’s passing, Thanks for having it in the Saskatoon paper as that is how I heard. I had reconnected with him this spring via e-mail and it was good to hear from him again. As a child we spent lots of time at Uncle George and Aunt Ina’s, so have many fond memories. My kids still remember him coming on his big motorcycle with his little dog for Mom and Dad’s anniversary(John and Winnie Norris). I let a number of cousins know when I saw the Obit. My thoughts are with you.

My friend Ted and I go back so far I can’t even remember when, or how we met; but luckily we did meet and have been friends ever since. If there was a need, Ted was always there. We went through the era of the computer BBS together as well as years of touring via motorcycle. I took refuge at Ted’s place when ice storm ’98 froze me out of N.B. Ted was always ready to give and yet ask nothing in return; I think that’s what makes a “best friend”, and Ted was definitely one of the best. Rest in Peace my friend.
