Tribute

James died peacefully in his home on March 23, 2013 at the age of 75 after a long illness. He lived in Powell River for over 30 years and worked at the Powell River mill.

He was a generous and hard working man but had many challenges of his own and always said, “There is great wisdom and learning with life’s ups and downs.” James always encouraged people to never give up.

He is survived by his daughters Charlotte and Nadeen, brother Allen, Debbie Cox and dear friend Nevil Smith.

A special thank you goes out to Darlene Rekve, Allan Hansen and Kathy Barnes who were there 24 hours a day in the final hours of his life. Thank you to Sybill and Blackie as well as Lynne and Paul from Glacier Apartments for their warm support, wonderful meals and ongoing care and concern for Jim all those years. Loving thank you to Dr. Bradley Schweitzer and the entire team of care workers who were like family to him over the last 12 years. He loved you all very much.

James wanted people to be happy and not sad that he had to leave. He loved and appreciated all of the people in the community and never let a day go by where he didn’t always have a kind word to share, a laugh and a smile.

He also claimed, “I know there is something greater than this waiting for all of us!”
