Lucy Clara Mcmaster

June 15, 1927 - March 26, 2014

Tribute

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved mom, Lucy, passed away at home Wednesday, March 26. We, her children, feel blessed that we were all able to spend time with our mom on her last day.

Mom, who was affectionately nicknamed “Totty” by her mother as a child, was born in 1927 in Vanderhoof, BC. She was the fourth of eight children and spent her youth growing up in various railway communities in northern British Columbia. It was in those small northern towns that she shared many happy years with her four athletic brothers, three beautiful sisters, her loving homemaker mother, and her father, “a man of faith” who worked as a section foreman for the Canadian National Railway.

Now, as a beautiful, brown-eyed ambitious young woman, mom left home in the late 1940s for Kamloops where she trained and graduated as a registered nurse at Royal Inland Hospital. Later she moved to Powell River to take a nursing position at Powell River General Hospital. She soon met “the love of her life”, Danny McMaster, who at the time owned Black and White Cabs.

In 1954 they married and by 1955 they had their first of four children. Mom gave up her nursing career to become a devoted, loving wife and mother and made it her life to keep us all happy, well cared for, and loved unconditionally.

She was a kind, caring, thoughtful woman who always put family and friends first. Mom will be forever deeply loved, cherished, and missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband Danny, and sisters Pansy and Rosemary. She is survived by her siblings George, Clifford (June), Violet, Murray and Terrence (Delores); her adoring children Kathryn (Serge), Jennifer (Dan), David (Denise) and Michael (Leila); her grandchildren Rachel (Danny), Anthony (Christina), Daniel (Rachel); and numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Auntie Lucy.

You will be forever in our hearts, mom.
