Tribute

Reta Olive Pirart passed away peacefully at Powell River General Hospital on January 2, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children: Marvin, Marie, Helene, Lorrie and Ruby, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was pre-deceased by her youngest son, Michael, and her husband Albert. Reta was born in Marcellin, Saskachewan in 1927. She married her husband, Albert, in 1946. Most of her married life was spent on Vancouver Island, and in Nanaimo. She relocated to Powell River in 1996 to be closer to her children. The past four years were spent at the Kiwanis Manor, where Reta enjoyed visiting with the other residents and participating in the many activities. Thank you to the nursing staff at the Kiwanis Manor and the Powell River Hospital for their kindness and caring. Particular thanks go to Dr. Sasha Uhlmann and Dr. Melissa Meyer, whose compassion, empathy and skill made this difficult time much easier for our whole family. A memorial tea will be held at the Kiwanis Manor in the near future, date to be announced.
