Roger Randall

May 17, 1942 - March 23, 2023

Tribute

Roger passed away peacefully at home with family by his side.

His working career included time as a projectionist for the Patricia Theatre, a driver for BC Ambulance, a taxi driver, and a millworker for 46 years.

Roger never knew a stranger and was happiest when he was being helpful with his extensive volunteer work, including the Coast Guard, Citizens on Patrol, Salvation Army and Hospice. After retirement, he and Shirley founded Beacon B&B, accommodating thousands of visitors over 27 years.

In 2004, Roger underwent quadruple bypass surgery and subsequently suffered from frontal lobe dementia, spending the next 19 years living a life of confusion. Being an avid walker, he could often be seen trying to calm traffic on Marine, and the family would especially like to extend their appreciation to the many wonderful people who would stop when he could no longer walk and bring him home safely. Also, our appreciation to the many businesses, like Rocky Mountain Pizza and Massullo Motors, who were sensitive to his condition and so accommodating.

Roger was an avid pool player, enjoying his time with the P.T. Cruisers in the PR 8 ball league and playing tournaments in Las Vegas & Penticton. Special thanks to his longtime pool amigo Bob Bogoslowski, with whom he spent many hours. A very special acknowledgement to Dr. Marentette, care aides, home support and palliative teams for their amazing support these past months.

Roger is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley, daughter Sherry (Jeff), son Ian (Christy), six grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the many people who sent flowers, cards and delicious food. Your love will light the way, and your memory will be forever with us.
