William Neil Garth Levins

October 16, 1928 - November 7, 2017

Tribute

With sorrow we announce the passing of William (Bill) Neil Garth Levins. He went peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on November 7, 2017 at Evergreen Extended Care Unit in Powell River, BC. Bill was devoted husband to Jean, and stepfather of Steve (Nok) Jensen, Kim McKergow, and Christine Moye. He was grandfather to Jessica (Trevor) Shulist, Eric Jensen, Maren Jensen, Hannah Moye, Emily Moye, and Kanthi Jensen. He was great grandfather to Zerrick Moye and Margo Shulist. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Oonagh. Bill was born October 16, 1928 in Yorktown, Saskatchewan, and had a long and rewarding career as an Architectural Hardware Consultant with Spalding Hardware in Calgary prior to his retirement to Powell River in 1990. He was known as an avid outdoorsman, a creative woodworker, a dog lover, and a sports enthusiast who participated in curling and baseball in his younger days. There was nothing Bill enjoyed more than engaging in interesting conversation with friends new and old. His family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and caring staff at Evergreen. Words of condolence can be shared with the family through Stubberfield Funeral Home on their website:

Relation: Volunteer at Evergreen

We always stopped to have a chat with Bill when we saw him sitting in the Greenhouse Garden at Evergreen. He seemed to love being out there and we encouraged him to help himself to strawberries and told him about what we were doing–planting bulbs etc. He was a real gentleman. We are sorry for your loss.

From: Frank (Skip) Braun
Relation: Friend

It is with great sadness that |I have just learned of the passing of my dear friend Bill Levins.
For over 60 years, it was my privilege to call Bill my dearest friend.
One could not hope in life to know a more kind, genuine, sincere ad caring person.
We shared many fun times enjoying the great outdoors, always a source of pleasure to Bill and myself.
My heart goes out to Jean and family for your sad loss.
The Bill I knew would have given his all to the end.
Rest well, old buddy.
With fond memories.
